IChemE launches Student Ambassador programme to ‘develop future leaders’

Article by Staff Writer

ICHEME is offering students the chance to represent their community, network with engineers in industry, and develop their leaderships skills with the launch of its Student Ambassador programme.

A key link between the student body and IChemE, Student Ambassadors will play an important role in supporting IChemE’s vision to ensure student members are getting the most out of their membership and are supported throughout their studies.

IChemE Student Ambassadors will work closely with IChemE staff and members to communicate the benefits of membership, highlight new and exciting opportunities, and provide valuable feedback on how the institution can best support its student members.

IChemE is seeking to recruit one Student Ambassador per year group on a chemical engineering undergraduate or postgraduate course in the UK. Student Ambassadors will be in post for one full academic year, running from 2 December to 30 June 2025.

Student Ambassadors may also be selected for the IChemE Future Leaders Programme. This will include opportunities to attend and present at high-profile events, for which communications training will be provided, and to network with industry leaders.

Nooryesha Choudhury, higher education engagement officer and associate member of IChemE, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for students to make new connections, get exposure to different industries, network with professionals and strengthen the key skills employers look for. I look forward to working with our new Student Ambassadors and developing our future leaders.”

The first round of applications will close on 30 November to allow time for onboarding. Recruitment will then be on an ongoing basis depending on spaces available.

To apply, you need to be a chemical engineering student and member of IChemE. If you are not already a member, you can sign up for free using the QR code.
