IChemE will host a two-week virtual conference in June, featuring over 30 opportunities to engage with a diverse programme of activity across international time zones. The event is free to attend and will bring together chemical engineers from around the world to discuss some of the profession’s most pressing technical and workforce challenges.
ChemEngConnect, which runs from 15–25 June, will feature sessions on topics including AI, carbon capture, energy transition, sustainability, safety and water, alongside professional development discussions covering ethics, diversity and inclusion, and communication skills.
The conference will also examine wider industry pressures including rising global energy costs, skills shortages, digital transformation and the transition to net zero. Sessions will run for four hours each day across multiple time zones, with recordings made available to IChemE members after the event.
Yvonne Baker, CEO of IChemE, said the conference reflects the increasingly global nature of the profession.
“ChemEngConnect 2026 is a truly global event, bringing together chemical engineers from across continents to share knowledge, insights and solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing our profession,” she said.
“By delivering the conference across multiple time zones, we’re making it easier than ever for people to take part. It’s an opportunity to learn something new, connect with peers worldwide and support ongoing professional development through accessible Continuing Professional Development.”
Speakers include IChemE president Raffaella Ocone, past president David Bogle, Chemeca medallist David Shallcross, IChemE treasurer Liz Hallifax and Matthew Watson, professor at the University of Canterbury. Other sessions will cover process engineering, dynamic simulation in oil and gas and communication skills.
This year marks the first time ChemEngConnect has expanded beyond its traditional Australia and New Zealand focus to include a broader international audience and speaker lineup. The conference is open to members and non-members.
