Volunteer role(s): Trustee (RoW), commercial  committee, IChemE Malaysia board

Job title: Managing partner, E2E Partners/Africa Growth LLC

Why do you volunteer?

Volunteering lets me give back to the institution that shaped my career. As an IChemE trustee, I focus on sustainable membership growth, a simpler and more consistent member journey, and a clear, credible voice with industry, academia and policymakers worldwide. I’m especially committed to international members, ensuring our services and pathways reflect diverse contexts, particularly across Africa’s fast-growing markets. I care about opening doors for students and early-career engineers through mentoring, employability initiatives and partnerships, while upholding standards that earn public trust. The blend of community, continuous learning and seeing decisions translate into tangible benefits keeps me energised.

What is your favourite recent volunteer activity and why?

Co-creating a practical roadmap to improve the member journey, with specific actions for students and international members: clearer onboarding, targeted university-to-industry bridges and upgraded digital touchpoints. I enjoyed applying my commercial and digital product experience to prioritise what moves the needle, including streamlined processes, better data and employer partnerships internationally. The best part has been turning strategy into pilots with defined success measures, so we can iterate quickly and deliver visible improvements for members.

What is one piece of engineering you could not do without, and why?

A whiteboard and marker: the fastest way to align teams, map processes and turn ambiguity into a shared plan.
