Nominations sought for IChemE’s Board of Trustees and Congress

Article by Ollie Folayan MBE FREng FIChemE

In early 2026, IChemE will be asking for nominations to join either the Board of Trustees or Congress. Ollie Folayan says there is no better time to help shape IChemE’s future

MY FELLOW Trustees and I are keen for as many members as possible to consider standing for election. While some roles call for specific skills, experience or membership grades, we are particularly encouraging nominations from individuals with backgrounds in international leadership, board or committee governance, developing commercial or traded income streams and business or stakeholder development.

However, whatever your skills, there is a part for you to play – on the Board of Trustees, as part of Congress (the member advisory board) or in one of our many other volunteer roles. Alternatively, you can support a suitably qualified colleague, peer or friend by endorsing their nomination.

Roles open

The Trustee roles open for nomination in the 2026 election cycle are:

  • deputy president for 2026/2027 (president from June 2027)
  • vice-president (Member Engagement)
  • ordinary member x 2

A number of seats will be available on Congress, with vacancies in both the Geographical and Membership Colleges. Full details of the individual seats will be available on the IChemE website in January.
