BRITISH engineering firm Wood is set to deliver key operational upgrades for a brownfield site on bp’s Juniper platform, located off the coast of Trinidad.
Wood’s joint venture, Massy Wood, is working with bp Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) to complete critical topside modifications and improve subsea pipeline corrosion protection as part of the latest phase of the project. The companies have been long-standing partners in energy developments across the region.
Mala Baliraj, CEO of Massy Wood, said: “bpTT is one of Trinidad & Tobago’s leading energy producers and we’re proud to have supported their operations for nearly two decades.
“This latest contract award is testament to the strength of our long-standing partnership and our proven ability to safely and reliably deliver critical EPC projects.”
Massy Wood has maintained a strong engineering presence across the Caribbean since its formation in 2003. Last year, it secured a three-year contract with Atlantic LNG to provide engineering expertise for its liquification facility in Point Fortin.
For bpTT’s Juniper platform, the company had already completed the pre-front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) and FEED phases earlier this year before moving into the EPC scope.
Last year, bp and Wood formed a “strategic alliance” for support bp’s onshore and offshore projects across upstream, midstream and downstream operations – with Trinidad and Tobago a main focus.
The Juniper platform is part of bpTT’s Ginger subsea development project, which includes four subsea wells tied back to the existing Mahogany B platform. First gas is expected in 2027, with peak production forecast at around 62,000 boe/d.
