Construction of the new facility at Nouryon's Ningbo site in China

NOURYON has announced that it will construct a hydroperoxide manufacturing facility at its site in Ningbo, China.

Nouryon has entered a partnership with Nanjing Jinling Huntsman (NJH), which will provide the raw materials needed for the new facility. The plant will produce 35,000 t/y of tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) and tert-Butyl alcohol (TBA). TBHP is used in the production of organic peroxides as well as for a polymerisation indicator for coating resins. TBA is used in the production of organic peroxides and other speciality chemicals.

NJH will also build a storage tank and loading station at its Nanjing facility for transport of the raw materials to the Nigbo site.

Johan Landfors, President of Technology Solutions at Nouryon, said: “This is an important step in integrating our regional supply chain for TBHP, which is currently imported from overseas. Demand for TBHP and TBA continues to rise in Asia, and our new facility will ensure that we can meet that demand for years to come.”

The facility is due to be completed in the second half of 2021.
