IChemE backs Technician Commitment, launches work-based learner category

Article by Staff Writer

ICHEME has joined the growing list of supporters of the Technician Commitment, strengthening its push to recognise and develop technicians and process operatives across the chemical and process industries.

The move aligns with IChemE’s strategy to broaden and diversify its membership and to deliver a better experience for everyone working in – or contributing to – the profession. As a Technician Commitment supporter, IChemE says it will focus on improving career development, boosting visibility and recognition of technical roles and ensuring technicians are fully included in conversations about skills, sustainability and the future of the sector. Alongside this announcement, IChemE has launched a new membership category for work-based learners, aimed at apprentices and others on vocational training pathways. The new category provides:

  • a structured route into professional membership
  • access to tailored learning resources and development tools
  • a clear progression pathway towards Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration

Mirroring IChemE’s student membership, the work-based learner category is free of charge.
