IChemE elections open in January

IChemE members are being encouraged to nominate themselves for volunteer positions on the Board of Trustees and Congress.

The call for nominations for the vacant positions will be circulated to members on 31 January 2022, followed by a three-week period to submit nominations. Role profiles for all vacant positions, detailing what they entail, will be available on IChemE’s website in January.

The Board of Trustee vacancies (Deputy President, Honorary Treasurer  and regional representative (ordinary member)) are open only to Voting Members (Fellows and Chartered Members), with the Deputy President role being restricted to Fellows. Each Trustee nomination must be supported by five Voting Members.

Congress has two electoral colleges: the Regional College representing geographical regions worldwide, and the Functional College reflecting an individual’s membership grade. Eligibility for Congress roles will depend on which Regional or Functional College vacancy is being applied for.

Congress nominations for the Regional College require support from two Voting Members. Seats in the functional college require support from two members in the same membership grade. For an Early Career seat, support can be given by Associate, Affiliate and Technician Members.

Jon Prichard, IChemE CEO, said: “IChemE’s success is largely due to the commitment and expertise given by our volunteers on our committees and groups, who help drive how we deliver value to society and to our members. I would like to encourage members to consider standing for election so that we can ensure that our priorities reflect the views of the membership. Please exercise your right to nominate, and later to vote, and start engaging with your fellow members now to gain suitable support for your nomination.”
