IChemE Needs You!

Article by Mike Cloke CEng FIChemE

Mike Cloke reflects on his volunteer role, and discusses opportunities for others to get involved

THE Individual Case Procedure (ICP) is now fully incorporated into the IChemE process for professional membership of IChemE. For Chartered Engineer it is now the only route to meet the educational base for candidates who do not have an IChemE-accredited degree at the M-standard. New reviewers have been trained but to meet the current and growing demand we need more volunteer reviewers. We speak to volunteer Mike Cloke, ICP Panel Committee Member, ICP Reviewer, and Trainer for ICP Reviewers.

What is your background?

“After graduating in 1973 I worked in industry for 8 years, mainly in process plant management. After that I followed an academic career. In 2003 I moved to Malaysia to set up the chemical engineering programme at Nottingham’s Malaysia Campus and was then Dean of Engineering at the new campus South of Kuala Lumpur. After that I had senior academic positions in Brunei and Sarawak.”

What inspired you to volunteer for IChemE?
