Esso leak fine is the ‘thickness of a pencil’

ESSO has been fined £1m for the uncontrolled release of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) at its Fawley refinery in the UK – a penalty one leading process safety expert has dismissed as “the thickness of a pencil” for a company the size of ExxonMobil.
