CB&I has named Patrick Mullen as its new chief operating officer, effective immediately.

From 2013 until now, Mullen, who graduated in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, US, was an executive vice president at the company and president of CB&I's Engineering & Construction operating group. He joined CB&I in 2007, when the company bought ABB’s Lummus Global. Mullen was initially appointed senior vice president of global sales at CB&I.

Mullen’s career has focussed on energy infrastructure. After graduating from Notre Dame he joined UOP, spending 12 years in a variety of roles in refining and petrochemical research and development, technical service, technology sales and technology management before joining Lummus. Mullen also holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and serves on the board of directors of Vectren Corporation, an electricity and gas distributor in Indiana, US.

“Pat has an exceptional track record in operations and commercial management roles within the company, having most recently led our largest operating group,' said Philip Asherman, CB&I's president and CEO. “I'm confident Pat's proven leadership will support CB&I's operations focus and continued growth in the industries we serve.”
